A Rose For You

Happy Sunday!!
We are awaiting what could be the biggest snow storm of the season here in Connecticut~ that means..... SNOW DAY TOMORROW!! Working in the school system I feel like a kid again when snow is coming, I LOVE SNOW DAYS!! In for the day, playing games with the fam, stamping, reading~ anything we want! It's not a 'Have to' day. On top of that, we are leaving next Sunday for a two week vacation. We're driving down to Florida, then shoving off on a ten day cruise to the Caribbean! I can't wait!!
Anyway, today's Featured Stamper at SCS is Kelly H. WOWZA! What a beautiful gallery! Browsing through some gorgeous creations, I finally chose this card to case. I loved the colors and layout a lot, but you have to change at least two things to case someone, so I changed the stamp set, dp and moved the elements a little. I also added buttons and a sentiment.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, One of a Kind (both SU)
Paper: very vanilla, basic grey, K&Co dp
Ink: black archival, soft sky, bashful blue, mellow moss
Extras: Oval cutter (Fiskars), ribbon, buttons, lacey scallop punch (MS), dimensionals, Stickles

Thanks so much for stopping by, and keep smiling a lot! :)
Hugs and Smiles~

Cherished Dreams

Good Tuesday morning all!
'All That Glitters' is this month's Fan Club theme at Splitcoast Stampers and if you haven't guessed yet, I love SPARKLE! So I decided to get 'dirty', I've never participated in the "Dare to get Dirty' challenges, so this was especially fun!
I started with a black cs base. I matted a dp panel to white cs, folded one corner up and added a black rhinestone. I took a big ol' Heide Swapp flower, folded and glued it in half and added some black rhinestones and Stickle spots. I attached my stamped image to the center and adhered it to the dp panel. I added some more rhinestones, Stickles, my sentiment and ribbon.

Recipe
Stamps: Dreams du Jour, Baroque Motifs SU
Paper: black, white, bella rose dp
Ink: black, certainly celery, rose red
Extras: rhinestones, Stickles, ribbon, dimensionals, flower Heide Swapp

Sunday was Featured Stamper day at SCS, and the lucky lady was the very talented 'Kokirose', another one of my faves whose gallery just ROCKS! I chose to case her 'Thinking of You' card which features one of my fave color combos- pink and brown. This was also the combo I needed for the 'Verve Project Parade Challenge' so... two birds with one stone!
The rose is an image I stamped, colored and cut some time ago. I stamped Baroque Motifs in white craft ink to the choc. chip panel for my bg. My sentiment was stamped in black Archival Ink and punched out with a small oval punch. I faux stitched around it using a paper piercer and white gel pen. (I don't get along very well with sewing machines)!
Okay, time for some last minute school shopping, and hopefully I'll be able to get in today's color challenge at SCS- rose red, basic black and kraft! Thanks so much for stopping by, I always love when you do! Keep smiling a lot!! :):)

Recipe:
Stamps: Rubber Stampede, Studio G, Stampin' Up!
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Choc. chip, white
Ink: white craft, black, versa mark
Extras: brads, gold ep, ribbon, dimensionals, oval punch, paper piercer, white gel pen, ticket corner punch

Dreams in Bloom

Hi everyone, happy Thursday evening!
First I have a late Color Throwdown challenge, (last week's Almost Amethyst, Basic Black, Certainly Celery) Great colors!

I started with a black card stock base and added a strip of amethyst and a scalloped strip of celery over that. Then I stamped my Bloomin' Beautiful flowers twice on amethyst cs, and once on celery cs. I cut and paper pieced them, layering sections with dimensionals. I did some shading with the same colors of inks along with some Brilliant Blue in the flowers. I also added white gel pen to the flower centers and Stickles for sparkle. I adhered my flowers with dimensionals to a square white panel that I pierced. I stamped 'Bloom' on white cs, cut it to size, scalloped and pierced edges, matted that with amethyst and adhered it to my card. I finished it off with some little flowers I had in my stash.

My next card is from Tuesday's SCS Color Challenge "Farewell In-Colors", and I'm really gonna miss them. I stocked up on them so I'll have them for a long time!!
I used Purely pomegranate for my card base. I stamped a Blue Bayou panel with Fresh Cuts, and adhered that to my base. I stamped my 'Dreams du Jour' on white cs and colored it with Purely pomegranate and Certainly Celery inks and a blender pen. I added white gel pen and Stickles. I adhered that to a Blue Bayou panel and added that to a Soft Sky panel matted with Purely Pomegranate. I added ribbon to the bottom of that and adhered it to my card with dimensioals. I finished it off with the butterfly stamped in black ink on pomegranate cs.
I have to say that I'm not thrilled with how the pics came out, because my camera died and I had to use my scanner to upload. But that's okay, if that's one of my biggest problems today, I'll take it, no problem!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and keep smiling a lot! :):)

SCS Inspiration Saturday

Happy 5th of July!
It's a day to relax. My DH took the kids to the movies today and I had some precious quite time. In between laundry and vacuuming I've been working on the SCS Inspiration Challenge. The big "I" for today is Mackintosh Enamels.

I really liked these switch plates for their great colors and design.
I found some OLD dp from Paper Pizazz that was absolutely perfect for this project! So I grabbed that, some chalks and SU's Garden Silhouettes and played! I also used the sketch from Our Creative Corner

If you haven't checked out this talented group of ladies yet, your missing out. Every week they have a new challenge to play-- and you know how I LOVE Challenges! But really, check them out it's a very cool site.
Okay,I guess I should put another load of laundry in, and probably cook dinner too-- certain people I know would really appreciate it if I did!
Thanks so much for stopping by, and don't forget to smile a lot today:):):):)

Back to Work

Hi Everyone!

Well, it was back to work for me today. But it's only 3 hours a day for the summer session, so it's not bad. The hard part is going back to full days in the fall after short days in the summer--but I'll just stay in the moment.

Yesterday's Splitcoast challenge was the Featured Stamper who is Michele, check out her beautiful gallery here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?

cat=500&ppuser=106723 I chose her card here:

I loved how she used cardboard for her focal panel, just a beauty! Here's my version of Michele's card-- I tore the cardboard and added some Stickles to the bottom to resemble sand on a beach. For the little girl, I stamped her twice- once on card stock, and once on patterned paper, then I paper pieced her dress and the bow in her hair. The rest of her I colored with colored pencils. Thanks Michele for the inspiration.

Today's technique challenge, also at splitcoast, was chalk pouncing. Here is a link with directions: http://www.lasimppan.com/techchalkpouncing.htm. It's a really fun technique. I 'pounced' my background with blue and purple chalks, then stamped the image with versa mark ink. I used sponge daubers to pounce colors onto the ink. I punched some small stars out around the image so you can see the saffron panel underneath. I took some of the punched stars, chalked them, and adhered them with pop dots. I stamped the sentiment in versa mark ink, and embossed it in gold with a heat tool. I like the result-- really fun and simple.

Well, it's time to start dinner-- do I have to? Yea, I do.
Thanks so much for stopping by and don't forget to smile a lot today:):):):)
